Whispers for When the Words Won’t Come
Inside: a few sparks for the dark days—writer’s block remedies and the things inspiring me lately.
Some weeks the words arrive like thunder—loud, sudden, impossible to ignore. Other weeks, they don’t come at all. This one was the latter. So I went searching for sparks in the silence, and in the process, found a few things worth sharing. If you’ve ever felt stuck or restless with your art, this one’s for you.
Quote of the Week:
"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." — Paulo Coelho
There’s a quiet magic in wanting something with your whole heart. It shifts the air. It sets things in motion. The world begins to rearrange itself in small, invisible ways—strangers appear, doors open, timing aligns. Not always when or how we expect, but somehow, eventually. The universe listens. Want boldly.

“City Club” by The Growlers
This song is a love letter to the wild, the weird, and the beautifully untamable. It dances in the dark corners of devotion—the kind where you don’t try to fix or soften someone, you just love them louder. It’s a reminder that mystery is magnetic, flaws are sacred, and sometimes the best kind of love is the kind that doesn’t make perfect sense.

James Rosenquist painted like a poet writes—taking the everyday and making it electric. A billboard artist turned Pop Art pioneer, he stitched together fragments of culture, color, and chaos to reflect the noise of modern life. What inspires me most is how he challenged the canvas to hold contradiction—beauty and consumerism, intimacy and scale, dreams and advertising. In his work, I see a reminder: the ordinary is never really ordinary, and art lives everywhere if you're willing to look sideways.
4 Tips To Combat Writer’s Block
Writer’s block isn’t a wall—it’s a door waiting to be opened a little differently. When the words won't come, try changing how you approach the silence. Sometimes the muse isn’t missing, she’s just waiting for you to meet her somewhere new.
1. Write Badly on Purpose
Give yourself permission to write the worst sentence imaginable. Then the next. Keep going. Perfectionism kills creativity—so start messy and see where it takes you.
2. Change the Scenery
Take your pen (or laptop) somewhere unexpected—a rooftop, a forest, a bathtub. Let the space shift your state of mind. New places spark new thoughts.
3. Borrow a First Line
Steal the first line of a poem, novel, or song you love and write forward from there. The borrowed words are just scaffolding—you’ll find your own voice along the way.
4. Stop Writing Altogether
Sometimes the best thing for your writing is to walk away. Take a walk, dance, cook, kiss. Return to the page not as a prisoner, but as someone who remembers why they loved it in the first place.
There are no wrong ways to write, only ways to begin again. The block isn’t the end—it’s an invitation back to the magic.

There’s something holy in being seen—truly seen—in your darkness, your chaos, your storm. This poem doesn’t flinch from the shadow, it embraces it, honors it, and turns it into something beautiful. It’s a love that walks deeper instead of turning away. A love that doesn't try to fix you—just holds you, all of you, even the parts you warned them about. This is the kind of devotion that feels rare and wild and brave. The kind that says: I see your wreckage, and I’m staying. Check out @rachscott1983 on Instagram!

And so we end where all good writing begins—with a blank page, a wandering mind, and a flicker of courage. If you’re stuck, trust that the words will return when you stop trying to force them. Let the silence say something first. Until next time, keep chasing the light through the cracks.
Love from the shadows,
xx
Atticus
Dear Atticus,
Thank you for naming what so many of us feel but struggle to say aloud.
For turning silence into something sacred, not shameful.
For reminding us that the muse is not gone—only gone wandering, and sometimes, we must wander too.
Your words are not just ink and insight.
They are permission—to be human, to be hollow sometimes,
to write badly, boldly, beautifully—
and to breathe between the lines when the words don’t come.
That Paulo Coelho quote? You paired it perfectly.
Yes, when we truly want something,
the universe leans in—but so must we.
So from one soul with ink-stained fingers to another:
Thank you for the light you chase and the shadows you honor.
This piece was not just a post; it was a mirror—
and I saw myself in it.
Gratefully,
Terod Naej
